Measure "I" Oversight Committee Overview

Measure I was passed by Fairfax voters in November 2009 to continue the sound fiscal policy begun by Measure F, when voters approved a special Fairfax municipal service tax of $125 per year for each business occupancy and dwelling unit, for a period of five years, to be used exclusively to:

  • Maintain 24-hour, seven days per week staffing of the Fairfax Police Station and Fire House
  • Maintain Fairfax’s 911 Emergency Dispatch
  • Perform Public Works Safety Improvements
  • Provide funding for Youth Services
  • Provide matching funds for state and federal grants
  • and establish a citizens’ oversight committee

The Measure “I” Citizens’ Oversight Committee is made up of Fairfax residents appointed by the Town Council. The ad hoc Committee meets on an as-needed basis. The meetings are open to the public, and the agendas are posted.
